Tuesday 11.6 : How to Survive the Holidays While Eating Through Them As Well

We are in that annual time where we write the date on something like a check or signing for our new mansion and realize it’s already a week into November. November means holiday season is upon us, which means food, booze, late nights, ruined diets, pre-holiday depression, post holiday depression, entire 2019 depression.

What if I said it doesn’t have to be that way? What if with a meeting or two, a little planning, yes some sacrificing, you could not only make it through the holidays unscathed but get your nutrition and overall health on track? At minimum you head into the next month and a half with a sense of power over the struggle that takes so many of us down, and then are armed with the power to actually live up to that New Year’s Resolution in spades.

Macros is the new Paleo in that it’s the hot new “diet” thing. Let me tell you this, Macros and Paleo are very different in their actual meaning, and really are two things that can (and should) be followed together. Macros are not some top secret new diet just being unleashed on the masses. Like so many nutrition related plans, people have been doing macros forever but it’s just beginning to be a thing people follow en masse because it’s been explained. Macros just refers to the 3 macronutrients: carbohydrates, fat, and protein. A simple accounting for how much of each you eat day by day, not controlling calories necessarily or “cutting carbs”. In fact most people end up with a TON of food to eat, the difference being it’s the right food for your body taking into account age, activity level, and goals
