The CrossFit Games is the main event of the global CrossFit community every year. The dates change every year but usually go from mid-February to the end of March. Each week for 5 weeks CrossFit HQ releases a workout that is to be attempted by every individual registered for the Open as often as they would like. Once WOD 1 hits this becomes a global obsession for the CrossFit community, and it is one of many things that I reference when I say CrossFit is great.
The start for this year is right around the corner. This means Facebook feeds will soon be filled with 9/10 things having to do with CrossFit . I’m talking videos of PRs, videos of epic fails like box faceplants and snatches breaking us in half, accusations and defenses surrounding cheating, and Dave Castro memes. 5 weeks of this, each week getting more and more exciting, or stressful. Depends on what side you are on.
As I said last night, it’s all inclusive and that is about as true as it gets. On top of the fact that the workouts are made so that everyone can do them at least for the first part, with the timing of each workout released it creates a true global phenomenon through the weekend. To say it’s fun is an understatement, and CrossFit Lando will involved on many levels as usual. Beginners will be able to get their first crack at competition in the comfort of their home gym, and competitors will be training as part of the first ever Operation Lando Competition Team Roster.
Of course the most of us are just doing this to get a look at where we fall within our age, region, box, or just ourselves from the years before. The Open is the only competition in a professional sport that allows participants of any background to participate with the best of the best and their friends and neighbors all at the same time. Whether you want to show that you are the best at CFL, or have a bet with a buddy, or want to see where you end up compared to your finish last year, the Open is not an event to miss at Lando.
Anyone who wants to compete will be able to sign up by Friday. If you want to be considered a competitor and get a sick Comp Shirt, let me know as orders go in in a matter of days! Stories of the Open will be coming the next few days.
